I offer light substantive editing and proofreading services for a wide variety of documents and content including, but not limited to, surveys, resumes/cover letters, scientific/technical/medical journal articles and research papers, dissertations, proposals, and theses. We can proofread everything from business plans, brochures, websites, PowerPoint presentations, memos, business presentations, short stories, novels, and all other written materials.
Proofreading is the final step in the writing process. Any extensive editing would ideally be done prior to proofreading. I will serve as your final set of eyes before your work goes to print or is published on the web. I will ensure grammatical, typographical, and formatting mistakes haven’t slipped through. My goal is to keep your readers and your audience engaged and focused on your content, not on mistakes within the text.
Proof-editing includes proofreading and light editing done at the same time rather than as two separate steps. Proof-editing is more than a traditional proofread, but not as extensive as a full edit, as I do not rewrite or offer major revisions. Proof-editing comes in handy if your time and budget will not allow for a full edit and a proofreading, and will still give you light substantive editing for a well-rounded document.
I work in Google Docs, Word, and PDF format. Changes are tracked within Google Docs and Word, and comments will be highlighted in PDF format. You’ll be able to review all editorial suggestions and decide which ones to keep or discard. Correspondence and communications are done via email.
You email/share the document with me.
I comb through your text carefully to find errors missed earlier in the editing process.
Errors/suggestions will be marked and changes will be tracked.
I return your work via email or share the Google doc with you. You decide which changes to implement and which to discard.
First impressions mean everything. Let’s make sure you make a great one.
